The Bess Press is an independent book publishing
company located in Honolulu, Hawai'i. Started in 1979 with the
reprint of two Hawaiian history textbooks,
our list of titles has grown significantly over the years. Today, we
offer readers and educators at all levels a selection of over two hundred
trade and educational publications about Hawai'i and the Pacific.
Our publications reflect an island perspective and sensitivity. Many
of our authors are experts who reside in Hawai'i and other areas
of the Pacific region. I think you will find our publications informative,
educational, and entertaining.
We publish trade titles about Pacific-related topics in the following
categories: children's literature, cookbooks, humor, travel, sports,
languages, reference books, and guidebooks.
We also offer curriculum titles widely used in schools and libraries
throughout the Pacific and mainland United States on Hawaiian and
Pacific island histories, languages, language arts, reading, literatures,
culture and science, and reference works.
