BESS PRESS PUBLISHES BOOK/CD FEATURING HONOLULU THEATRE FOR YOUTH'S CHRISTMAS TALK STORY PERFORMANCES
This holiday season the whole family can enjoy reading and listening to 25 monologues selected from Honolulu Theatre for Youth's acclaimed Christmas Talk Story performances, produced annually for the last five years (in 2002, in partnership with Kumu Kahua Theatre). The monologues are written by some of Hawai‘i's best writers, including E. Shan Correa, Yokanaan Kearns, Darrell H. Y. Lum, Gary Yong Ki Pak, Vivian Thompson, Lee A. Tonouchi, and Y York. They are performed by local actors BullDog, Nara Springer Cardenas, Monica Cho C., Tanner Henderson, Keith Kashiwada, and Shen Sugai, who have all appeared in Christmas Talk Story productions. With intriguing titles like “Christmas . . . I No Get It,” “Hanuchriskawanzobon,” “Firecracker Uncle,” and “The Year We Ate Brains,” the selections, written from a child's point of view, depict the holidays as they are celebrated only in Hawai‘i.
