ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Sarah DeLuca is the author of Island Readers, a comprehensive 40-book developmental reading series that is entirely island themed. Published by Bess Press in the spring of 2015, Island Readers is comprised of leveled Pre-K to 2nd grade readabilities designed with phonetic structures that build upon the previous level. Basic vocabulary based on sight language, predictable patterns, and advanced phonics-driven text will engage young readers, as well as make it a fun experience for island children to learn to read.
Sarah is a Kindergarten-1st grade (multi-age classroom) teacher at Hanahauʻoli School on Oahu. Prior to Hanahauʻoli she taught 1st grade at Holy Nativity School and in Special Education at Hokulani School. Sarah has her Master’s Degree in Education and Teaching from the University of Hawaiʻi. She received her degree in International Studies from the University of Oregon. Sarah is also a graduate of Iolani School.
